Katie, The Thistleist
The Herbal Doula places 𝘺𝘰𝘶 as one of these epicentres.
My work offers the most wildy potent process of exploring who you are and what it will take to heal your symptoms, their causes, and the generational patterns that sit in your bloodline. I blend Western and Eastern naturopathic herbal teachings, my training in perinatal health & psychology, and my gifts as a sensitive, intuitive listener, to guide you through harnessing your power and inner knowing. From this standpoint, you can whole-heartedly transform your life and get back in the driving seat of your desires.
Symptoms are the keys to getting curious about what's going on behind layers of self.
You have been shaped by the forces around you - you have bent, twisted, hidden parts of yourself that were once your truth. With the support of the plants you can nourish the wounded & warrior woman to once again bathe in wholeness.
I am rooting for the women of this earth who want to create new systems for resilient family health. I'm here for those who hold love sacred and want to pursue the ways of least harm in raising children with seasonal food and rhythms of the earth. I want to enrich your repertoire with herbal bitters, elixirs, botanical vinegars, mocktails, fruit shrubs and fermented honeys!
I see birth as an unparalleled portal to instinct, intuition and personal transformation. From the chrysalis magic of pregnancy, muscular fire of birthing, to the chaos of postpartum where we re-integrate our insights, women have always been a channel for the most astonishing process of creation. The plants facilitate us in tending to the terrain of being mothered, and mothering.
I am an apprentice to the plants and to my clients' deep desires for thriving health. I support you in plant tastings, meditations and quests for answers. Soul-expanding journeys are at the heart of what I do, awakening the element-worker or the medicine-maker, the nature-lover or the wise woman in you.

I work closely with specialist U.K. based suppliers that have rigorous quality and safety standards in place. Most of my herbs are cultivated in Wales with adherence to organic growing and ethical wildcrafting principles, using innovative extraction methods to enhance efficacy. I can recommend trusted suppliers for your home pharmacy.
The side effects of taking your herbal medicine are the therapeutic effects! When taken correctly as prescribed, there are rarely negative side effects as long as the practitioner has taken into account herb-drug interactions, appropriate dosage, frequency, and duration of treatment. Some herbs increase liver activity, bowel transit time or other elimination pathways. This may result in a short period of adjustment upon commencing the protocol, although halving the dose works for many as a transitional soft introduction.
There is some conflation of these two different phases. Pregnancy is a time for delicate and careful use of herbs, to avoid stimulating the uterus or affecting the baby, and particularly tinctures due to the alcohol content. There are however some very useful and safe herbs to support healthy growth, mitigate nausea and related digestion issues, and to facilitate restful sleep. Postpartum and during lactation, we are able to work with a wider range of plants to strengthen tissue repair, reduce stress, restore tone, and many other common health goals arising at this special time.
I aim to provide quality care to all my clients in a timely manner. No-shows, late arrivals and last minute cancellations inconvenience myself and my other clients as well. Please be aware of the following:
When you book your appointment, you are holding a space that is no longer available to other people.
If cancellation is necessary, I require that you notify me at least 48h in advance. Appointments are in high demand, and your advanced notice will allow another client access to that appointment time.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please email me at thethistleist@yahoo.com.
A cancellation is considered late when the appointment is cancelled less than 48h before the appointed time. A no-show is when a patient misses an appointment without cancelling. In either case, there is no refund available.
